Geraldine attends the Drama League of Ireland (DLI) Summer School in UL each year for in-service training. She has participated in the National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI) Arts Summer School in NUIG for the past two years.

Geraldine gratefully acknowledges bursaries from Kildare County Council over the years for the DLI, NYCI and Laban Summer Schools. She also received a grant towards the production of a community play 'A Short History of the Tuatha De Danann' by Martina Reilly which was performed in Celbridge and Smock Alley in 2013.

Personal Development Workshop Facilitator

Geraldine O’Brien is passionate about communication through drama and dance.  She works as a drama facilitator for children and teenagers in Kildare and Clare.  She acts and directs with the local adult drama group and holds workshops in drama and playmaking for community groups, Youth Café, Transition Year students and primary school children.

Since qualifying as a Laban Community Dance and Movement facilitator she promotes getting out of the mind and into the body, which has added a wonderful new holistic dimension to her work.  It has taken her to Kildare libraries to do workshops on Relaxing, Moving and Dancing, and from dancing through the chakras to choir movement camps on evolution and the famine!    She has facilitated twice at the Wise Woman Weekend (Betwixt and Between: finding your inner phoenix and emerging anew, in 2014).  This is an event she has organized and promoted in her community as an essential re-evaluation and renewal of the essence of self.

The joy of life-long learning has given her a perspective of strength, openness and agelessness, which she endeavours to bring to all her work.
